The
images of those whose lives were devastated by Hurricane Katrina are heart
shattering. Now is the time to rise up and stand firm in our faith. Hundreds of
thousands of people were stripped of every basic necessity required to survive.
Many lost loved ones and beloved
pets. No gift is too small - one dollar, one pair of
socks, one toothbrush, one set of underwear, one pillow, one blanket, one teddy
bear.
For those who have the time and are able to travel, organizations
like Samaritan's Purse are looking for
volunteers to go down to the Gulf
Coast and relieve workers they currently have on the ground. Churches and
organizations like The Salvation Army have set up shelters in every US
state. They need help with cooking, serving meals, doing laundry and dozens of
other tasks for the families they've taken in. Connect to volunteer
opportunities in your community through your local Volunteer Center using
1-800-Volunteer.org.
Faith in action is
bigger than any hurricane. I pray the devoted followers of Jesus Christ rise up
today, roll up their sleeves today and put their faith to work - today.
Tomorrow is not promised. Today is all we have.

How do you know what will happen
tomorrow? For your life is like the morning fog--it's here a little
while, then it's gone. James 3:14 NLT |
